午前1時、寝付かれずに窓の外を見たらオーロラが見えました。

1 o'clock in the morning. I couldn't sleep and looked outside through window,
then the northern lights could be seen.
月が少しまぶしかったけど、見事なカーテン状でした。
What a beautiful "curtain", even the moon was a bit bright.
これは右上に北斗七星も写っています。
フェアバンクスでオーロラが出るときには、たいてい北西から南東方向の帯状になります。
これは、オーロラが地球の磁極を中心としたリング状に発生するのと関係があります。
北磁極と実際の北極はかなりずれていて、フェアバンクスあたりでは磁石は実際の
北から30度も東の方向を向きます。北東にある北磁極を中心とするリングの一部を
見るから、北西から南東方向の帯状に見えるんですね。
広美はオーロラを勉強しに来ているから、オーロラについてもっとお話ししたいんだけど、
今日はもう遅いので。。。おやすみなさい。。

Northern lights usually shape a curtain laid from northwest to southeast in Fairbanks.
It is concern with the fact that northern lights appear like a ring centered the
magnetic north pole. The magnetic north pole is apart from actual north pole and
compasses point toward 30 degree east from actual north in Fairbanks. We see a part
of the ring centered the magnetic north of which direction is northeast so that
the northern lights seem to be a curtain laid from northwest to southeast.
I, Hiromi am studying northern lights and want to talk about it more, but it is
