結局、車をヘインズの修理屋さんに預けることになりました。
レッカー代だけで300ドル、修理にはさらに1000ドルは見といてくれっていわれました。
ショック。。。お高くつきそうです。。
しかも今日はまだ日曜なのに、月曜も祝日で休みなので修理屋さんは火曜まで仕事をしないそうです。
ヘインズにじっとしていてもしかたがないので、広美は他の交通機関で旅を続けることにしました。
It turned out that I had to leave my car in Haines.
It cost 300 dollars only for towing service, and they said It would cost 1000 or over for repairing my car.
It shocked me very much, expensive for me. . .
In addition, it's Sunday today and they does not work until Tuesday because Monday was holiday.
I had no choice except I left my car and continued trip by other transportation.
ヘインズは山とフィヨルドに囲まれた静かな町でした。
メインの観光地からも外れているため、大型観光バスもいません。
Haines was a quiet peaceful town surrounded mountains and fjords.
The main street of sight seeing is not so close to here that there was no tourist's bus.
逆にいうと、交通の面ではとっても不便なところです。
州営フェリーが唯一の公共交通機関ですが、車が故障しなければ乗るはずだった
今日のスキャグウェイ行きの便はすでに出てしまっていました。
ビジターセンターで交通の情報を探したところ、民間の会社、Haines-Skagway Water Taxi が
スキャグウェイへの定期便を出していましたので、それに乗ることができそうです。
時間はまだあるので、とりあえずヘインズの町を観光しました。
といっても、歩いていける範囲で見られるのは、ヘインズの歴史やこの地方の原住民である
クリンケット・インディアンに関する展示を行っている小さな博物館くらいでしたが。。。
But it meant here was inconvenient for transportation.
Ferry is the only public transportation but the ship, on which I had gotten ride
if there were no trouble, had already departed.
I looked for information in visitor center and found a private company, which was
Haines-Skagway Water Taxi and have daily service to Skagway.
I could have some more time before departure and I saw a small museum which
exhibited about the history of Haines and Tlingit Indian which is native people around here.
船の出発する港は博物館のすぐそばでした。
The harbor where ship departed was close to the museum.
乗る船は後ろの大型豪華客船、ではなくて手前の小型双胴船でした。
フィヨルドは外海から遠く離れているので、波が無くて静かですね。
でも、水の塩辛さと潮の満ち引きが、フィヨルドが海であることを教えてくれます。
The ship I rode was a big passenger ship behind in the picture, . . not true,
but a small boat in front of the passenger ship.
Water surface was so quiet because this fjord was far from the ocean.
But saltiness and tide of the water told us the fjord was a part of sea.
さよならヘインズ。またすぐ来ることになりそうだけど。
Good bye Haines, but see you soon.
船の上からは白頭ワシをたくさん見ることができました。
このあたりはアメリカの国鳥、白頭ワシの越冬地だったんですね。
I saw a lot of eagles from the boat.
Here is winter settlement of eagles which is national bird of US.
岸壁に一定の間隔を置いて一羽ずついて、木の上から自分の存在を誇示しています。
まるで山に登ったときの私みたい。。って、私はニワトリだったのでは。。。
They stayed on the top of trees and showed their presence.
It's like me when I climb up on mountains (See.).
