Alaskan Highway vol. 2.
９月３日、朝起きて周りを見てみると、山と湖に囲まれていました。
I recognized here was surrounded with mountains and lakes when I woke up on September 3rd.
こんなきれいな所を走っていたんですね。
昨日は真っ暗だったので、ぜんぜん知らなかった（笑）。
でも、これから入る東南アラスカは、氷河を頂いた山にフィヨルドと渓谷が刻まれた、
さらに美しい所のはずです。ここはあまり時間をかけずに、先を急ぎます。
I drove such a beautiful place!
I didn't know yesterday because I drove at night.
But Southeast Alaska must be more beautiful place with glaciers, mountains, fjords and deep valleys.
I didn't take much time here and hurried.
アメリカとの国境に近づくにつれ、山が険しくなってきました。
遠くに氷河も見えます。
As I went closer to US border, mountains became precipitous.
There were also glaciers far away.
私自身が写っていないのって、なんかさびしいですね。
空気になってしまったみたい。。
パスポートを女の子として作れて、国境をそのまま越えられればとってもうれしいんですけど。。
There was something missing because of lack of my pictures.
It looks as if I were air. .
If I could have a passport as a girl and I could cross the border, . .
谷を下るにつれて森が深くなり、氷河も近くなります。
As I went down the valley, trees in forest became bigger and glaciers became closer.
そして国境を越え、アメリカ側の税関でパスポートチェックです。
After crossed US border, there was passport check at US customs.
無事東南アラスカに着き、これでやっと男のフリをしなくて済むぞ、と思ったら突然の大ハプニング！
I could arrive Southeast Alaska, and I don't have to pretend to be a man!
But suddenly a big trouble happened!
なんと、車が故障してしまいました。
下りカーブの途中で車輪が突然ロックして、急ブレーキ状態で路面を滑って停止。
エンジンはかかりますが、いくらアクセルを吹かしても、車はビクともしません。
しかたなく、レッカー車を呼ぶことにしました。
近くの電話まで旅行中の親切なご夫婦に連れていっていただき、
一番近くの町、ヘインズのオートサービスに電話します。
電話帳に載っている番号を片っ端から回しますが、
あいにく今日は日曜日、ほとんどのところがお休みです。
開いているところをやっと一軒みつけて、レッカー車を呼ぶことができました。
やっと東南アラスカに入って、私の旅はこれからだというのに、なんて不運なんでしょう！
My car became out of order.
wheels were suddenly locked and the car slid on the road, finally stopped.
The engine seemed all right, but the car didn't move any more.
I had no choice but called towing service.
A kind elder couple took me to the nearest telephone and I called auto service in Haines.
There were several auto service on telephone book but most those were out of service
because it's Sunday today.
I found opened one and they would come to here.
How unhappy it was, the trip was still the beginning!
とりあえず車のところに戻って、レッカー車を待つことにしました。
谷の下のほうでは熊さんの鳴き声がします。
どうやら川を上ってくる鮭を食べているようで、幸いこちらに来る心配は無さそうです。
I returned to my car and waited for towing service.
I heard bears' roaring under the valley.
But it might be safe because they were eating salmons going up the river.
右の写真は望遠鏡にカメラを押し付けて撮った物です。けっこうよく撮れていますね。
The right picture was taken with a camera contacted with a telescope. It looks better than I expected.
